Today, I’ll devote a post to the male species. Specifically: my boyfriend.

Charcoal cowl neck jumper and grey waffle stitch cardigan by River Island,
black skinny flared jeans by Diesel and Demise boots by All Saints
There’s a few fragrances he uses that I absolutely adore, and which I’d like to recommend.
Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier. This is a true classic. It was released back in 1995 and has managed to remain a best selling cologne ever since. Everyone knows the iconic bottle, shaped like a male torso.
The top notes are mint, artemesia, cardamom and bergamot. The middle notes are cinnamon, cumin, lavender and orange blossom, and the base notes are vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and cedar. Le Male is a sweet, minty cologne whose vanilla base notes definitely overrule any other aspect of its smell. In opposition to most strong musky men’s colognes, Le Male is light and airy, warm and sensual.

Le Male eau de toilette by Jean Paul Gaultier and To Be eau de toilette by Police
To Be by Police is a fairly new fragrance, released only a year ago.
Its name is derived from one of literature’s most famous quotes, “To be or not to be…”, from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The bottle is aptly shaped like the skull as used by the title character in the play.
The top notes are grapefruit and black pepper, the middle note is violet leaves and the base notes are cedar, patchouli and white amber. It’s a fragrance in a lower price range, but don’t let that fool you. It’s a wonderful, sweet fragrance, along the same lines as the other fragrances discussed in this post.

Ultraviolet Man eau de toilette by Paco Rabanne
Ultraviolet Man by Paco Rabanne has notes of synthetic ambergis, liquid mint, organic vetiver and moss crystals. It’s a unique fragrance in the sense that for the first time, thanks to advanced molecular research, the sensual woody fragrance of ambergris has been technologically created. The bottle is sort of high-tech or sci-fi if you will, the design house describes it as a gun spray. For me personally, this aspect definitely adds to the appeal. But even without the cool packaging, it’s still a wonderful fragrance on its own. Sweet, minty and masculine.
