May 27, 2012I’m really terrible at applying nailpolish, but every now and then I attempt to beautify my nails anyway since there are a few really great colors out there.

Chanel nailpolish in 529 Graphite
I picked up this Chanel nailpolish a few days ago and I love it. It’s called Graphite and it’s a glittery charcoal silver. It applies very smoothly and dries in just a few minutes. My new favorite.

Gareth Pugh for M.A.C. nailpolish in Inert
This Gareth Pugh for M.A.C. nailpolish I already talked about previously, when I posted about all three nailpolishes in the collection. I never posted any pictures of the colors applied on nails though. I’ve been wearing Inert quite a bit, so here’s a picture I took last week. Inert is a creamy mid-tone greyed nude, and I find it to be the perfect everyday color.

January 22, 2012Yesterday’s shopping trip for new shoes failed tragically, but on the up side I did run into a M.A.C. store that held the Gareth Pugh collection. I am not the lipstick wearing kind by any means, but I ended up getting one of the lipsticks that I just couldn’t resist. I’ve always been drawn to nude colors so this was the perfect occasion to purchase one. Retail therapy, amiright?

Gareth Pugh for M.A.C. lipstick
The color is Restrict and it’s a creamy greyed nude. It has a slightly stiff formula, but I expect it to last longer because of this reason. It’s a very pretty color and it would look great with dark smoky eyes. Also worth mentioning, this lipstick smells wonderful!
Another happy surprise this past week was the ultra swift delivery of the Ann Demeulemeester lock and key necklace I ordered online. The Fall 2011 collections are currently on sale, so now is the time to grab some designer items!

Ann Demeulemeester lock and key necklace
The pendants are a bit on the large side, larger than I would normally wear, so I will have to experiment with how exactly this necklace could be worn. The pendants have an antiqued silver finish and the lock is, much to my surprise, fully functional. A very cute little trinket.
Blog 001
January 22, 2012I started this blog back in November of 2009. Initially it was just meant as an archive of sorts, to collect and save all my favorite fashion pictures in one place and in an orderly manner. And that’s what this blog in fact has been for the past two years. However, 21 pages and 145 posts later I find myself having developed an itch to give this blog a bit more substance, a bit more personality. So, I’m adding another category. This new category will be for actual writing about things such as purchases, accessories and make-up, and reviews.
So let’s start this first new category post off by talking about two of my favorite recent purchases.

Gareth Pugh for M.A.C. nail lacquers
For Winter 2011/12, designer Gareth Pugh teamed up with long time runway collaborator M.A.C. for a limited edition make-up collection. It’s a collection that goes from strong, deep and mysterious colors, to light, fragile and ethereal shades. The collection has three different nail lacquers which I all purchased.
Shades:
- Inert (creamy mid-tone greyed nude)
This is my personal favorite. It’s a neutral light grey shade and is perfect for a more subdued look. - Hyper (deep blue with violet pearl)
Definitely the show pony of the three and rightly so. A very deep inky blue with a shimmery finish, very vibrant. Great coating and a fluid consistency. - Ascension (grey with blue-violet reflective pearl)
This one, unfortunately, doesn’t work for me. I would assume it’s an acquired taste, but definitely something very unique. It’s a duochrome in a greyish green and a greyish purple. This is the one I’ll keep for the pretty packaging.

My Queen perfume by Alexander McQueen
My second purchase is the My Queen perfume by Alexander McQueen. Being a devoted McQueen admirer, I just had to explore his fragrances. My Queen was first on my wish list. I hadn’t the faintest idea what this smelled like, but I went ahead and ordered it regardless. And I am ever so glad that I did, because this has turned out to be one of my favorite scents to date.
The fragrance opens with notes of almond and violet and slowly turns into the pure scent of orange, white musk, heliotrope and white flowers. It then further develops towards the notes of patchouli, cedar and vetiver, and finally ends with notes of iris and vanilla. It’s a very warm and romantic scent, a little powdery. Wholeheartedly recommended by yours truly.
And that’s it, folks. First post done, let’s open up the champaign.
