I’ve been using my Michael Kors Hamilton medium bag for everything including work for a very long time now, and I’ve been very happy with it and wasn’t looking to replace it any time soon, but recent changes at work have more or less forced me to look for a new, bigger work bag. Times are changing, and my employer has chosen to step away from the conventional office environment where everyone has their own established workspace, and has opted for flexibility instead. What this means in short, is that all employees have received laptops, which enables us to work at whichever location is most convenient for us at any given day or time. What this also means, is that I needed to find a bag that’s big enough to hold all my usual things, plus the additional laptop, since my trusty Hamilton bag no longer sufficed. It’s taken me a while, but I finally found a bag to accomodate these needs.
Nacre tote bag by Thierry Mugler
The Nacre tote bag by Thierry Mugler is a sturdy bag made out of high quality faux leather. It’s 17 inches or 43 cm in length, and 12 inches or 30 cm high. The bag has one big open compartment lined with a royal blue fabric, and has a smaller insert that you can take out or click into place with snap fasteners. The insert closes with a zipper and has some smaller compartments for a mobile phone, wallet and other small items. It’s a very simple and classic looking bag, the only decorations are Thierry Mugler’s signature silver stars, one on each side of the handle.
Dior’s Pure Poison used to be my favorite perfume a number of years ago. I used to wear it every single day, and must have bought quite a few bottles along the way. Since then, several other fragrances have become favorites and Pure Poison had to take a back seat. I still do enjoy it, but there are other perfumes that I’ve come to prefer. Since I used to love Pure Poison so much, every time I would go into a cosmetics store over the years, I would take a sniff of all the other Poisons Dior has created in hopes to find another great love. But none of the others ever compared.
Just recently, I received a tester of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison along with an order. I never cared for Hypnotic Poison when I smelled it in stores, but I decided to give it a fair chance this time around and wear it for a day to see what I’d think. Perfumes do go through different scent stages after all, and I might like what it would turn into after a few hours. The first hour of wear I didn’t care for it much, but as the day progressed every so often I would think to myself “Mmm, someone smells nice…” and then realized it was me! After settling down, I fell head over heels in love with this fragrance.
Hypnotic Poison by Dior
The great thing about reviewing perfumes is that over the years I have learned exactly which notes I am drawn to. All of my favorite perfumes share many of these same notes. I have learned that I almost without exception go for oriental gourmand fragrances, usually with a vanilla, sandalwood and musk base. After researching Hypnotic Poison’s notes it all made perfect sense. Hypnotic Poison is everything that I love!
Hypnotic Poison in short can be described as an oriental vanilla fragrance. The top notes are apricot, plum and coconut, the middle notes are tuberose, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, rose, rosewood and caraway, and the base notes are sandalwood, almond, vanilla and musk. In theory this is the perfect perfume for me: the gourmand notes are all there, the spicy notes and even the musky side. This perfume is soft, warm, musky and sweet. It’s also a little dark and bewitching. I’d even say, hypnotizing. I think I may have finally found that next great love I’ve been looking for.
As far as jewelry goes, I prefer investing in just a few meaningful high quality pieces, rather than having a large collection of assorted interchangeable knick knacks. This means I only own a very small number of rings, necklaces and bracelets, but in turn they are all very dear to my heart. I’m a highly brand loyal person on top of that, and thus most items in my (small) collection are by my ever most favorite, Alexander McQueen.
Alexander McQueen Mini Multi Skull Plaited Bracelet
The last piece of jewelry I got, was a birthday present that was gifted to me last year. The Mini Multi Skull Plaited Bracelet by Alexander McQueen is a black plaited cord bracelet with alternating mini skulls. The skulls are made of solid brass with an anti-allergic silver finish, and the bracelet has adjustable sizing. It’s heavier than it might seem, and you might think the fastening doesn’t appear to be very secure but in fact it’s rock solid. You can very easily adjust the sizing, and the bracelet will stay in place all day. I’ve been wearing this bracelet a lot, I love the look and feel of it. It’s edgy but not in a loud way, as the mini skulls are very delicate and understated.
